Four people, including two children, were injured after a fairground slingshot ride in Spain malfunctioned when one of its cables snapped mid-air. The incident occurred on the “Steel Max” ride, which propels riders at high speed into the air using tensioned cables. During operation, one of the cables failed, causing the capsule to lose stability and partially descend in an uncontrolled manner.
Emergency services responded to the scene, and all four riders were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, including suspected fractures and soft tissue injuries. Witnesses described hearing a loud snapping sound before the ride structure recoiled and the capsule dropped unevenly.
The ride was immediately shut down following the incident, and authorities launched an investigation into the cause of the cable failure. Early concerns have focused on potential maintenance issues or equipment fatigue, though official findings have not yet been confirmed.
