skate park temporarily closes after extensive graffiti vandalism

The Elsa skate park in Texas was temporarily closed after graffiti defaced the facility’s ramps and murals with obscene language and images, prompting the city to shut down the area while cleanup and repairs are planned.

The vandalism covered artistic murals painted by a local artist and was considered inappropriate for a public recreational space frequented by children and families. City officials said that repainting the skate park will be costly due to the specialised paint used on the ramps, with expenses expected to exceed US $2,000, and that the closure could last several weeks while the work is completed and new security measures are introduced.

During the closure, police will patrol the site, and a camera system is planned to help prevent future incidents. A police report has been filed, and no arrests have been made at the time of reporting.
