School gets brand New Playground to Help Prevent Flooding

A new playground in the UK has been designed to help manage and reduce flooding by incorporating water storage and drainage features into its layout. The space is built to temporarily hold excess rainwater during heavy rainfall, helping to prevent surrounding areas from flooding.

The playground includes specially designed surfaces and landscaping that allow water to be absorbed and stored rather than running off into nearby streets. Features such as basins and channels direct and contain water during periods of high rainfall.

During dry conditions, the space functions as a standard playground, allowing children to use the area for recreation. When heavy rain occurs, parts of the playground can fill with water as part of its flood management design.
