Plans are underway to upgrade the existing skatepark in Pitlochry into a modern, inclusive “all-wheels” facility designed to cater to a wider range of users, including skateboarders, BMX riders, scooter users and wheelchair participants. The project is being led by local community group Pitlochry Paths, which aims to revitalise the ageing infrastructure and create a more accessible and contemporary recreational space.
The current skatepark has been described as outdated and underused, with limitations in both design and functionality. The proposed redevelopment focuses on improving usability, safety, and inclusivity through updated features that support a broader range of wheeled sports and abilities. The concept aligns with modern skatepark design trends that prioritise shared spaces and adaptable elements rather than single-use equipment.
Community engagement has played a key role in shaping the proposal, with residents and users contributing feedback on desired features and improvements. Funding efforts are ongoing, with organisers seeking financial support to progress the project.
The redevelopment is expected to enhance local recreational opportunities, encourage physical activity, and strengthen community connection by providing a facility that accommodates diverse user groups. The project highlights a shift toward inclusive design in outdoor sporting infrastructure and the importance of upgrading ageing facilities to meet current standards and expectations.
