Basin Recreation is seeking community feedback on plans to redevelop the Trailside Skate Park into a more accessible “wheels park” designed to accommodate a broader range of users. The proposal aims to replace the existing, ageing skatepark with a modern facility that supports skateboarding, biking, scootering, and adaptive wheeled activities, including use by people with disabilities.
The current skatepark has been identified as outdated and limited in functionality, prompting the need for a redesign that improves flow, usability, and safety. The proposed upgrade focuses on inclusive design principles, ensuring the space can be used by individuals of varying ages, skill levels, and physical abilities. Features under consideration include smoother transitions, adaptable elements, and layouts that better support shared use.
Community engagement is a central part of the planning process, with Basin Recreation inviting input to help shape the final design. Feedback will inform decisions around layout, features, and accessibility considerations to ensure the facility meets local needs.
