New world-class skate park planned as part of Suburban Rail Loop

new world class skate park planned as part of suburban rail loop

A major new skate park is being planned for Cheltenham in Melbourne’s southeast, developed alongside the Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East project.

Olympic skateboarding judge and local skater Renton Millar is collaborating with Kingston City Council, local skaters and parents on the design, which will combine bowl and street-style elements with artistic features that reference the former Highett Gasworks site.

The skate park will be a key component of broader upgrades at Sir William Fry Reserve, which also includes multi-sport and pickleball courts, new paths and seating, additional greenery, and an events lawn. An off-leash dog park will be added within the same precinct, and the reserve will be integrated with the future underground SRL East station infrastructure.
