Four playgrounds across the Fraser Coast are set to receive upgrades focused on improving safety, comfort, and usability for families. Works will include the replacement of ageing play equipment, installation of new playground structures, and the addition of shade infrastructure to better protect users from sun exposure.
Upgrades will take place at Alex Gillespie Park, Parklands Boulevard Park, Woocoo Wildlife Reserve, and Anzac Park. At some sites, older equipment will be removed and replaced with modern play elements, alongside improvements to drainage, sand soft fall surfaces, and edging to enhance safety and durability. Additional works include new shade structures and shade sails, along with upgrades to shelters, lighting, landscaping, and surrounding park infrastructure. Car park improvements are also planned at selected locations.
The upgrades form part of the council’s broader park strategy, aimed at ensuring playgrounds remain safe, functional, and suitable for community use as demand grows. Improved shade coverage is a key focus, particularly in response to local climate conditions, helping reduce heat exposure and improve comfort for children, parents, and carers.
