Skate WS Foundation has proposed the development of a Park on vacant city-owned land in downtown Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The proposed multi-use recreation space would include a skate plaza, pump track, playground and walking path, with a strong focus on creating an accessible destination for people of all ages and abilities.
Foundation leaders said the project is intended to provide an affordable place for recreation while supporting youth programs, summer camps and skateboard distribution initiatives for children who cannot afford equipment.
The nonprofit is seeking approval from the City of Winston-Salem for a long-term lease before launching a private fundraising campaign to construct the park. Community organisations and city council members have expressed support for the proposal, which aims to expand inclusive recreation opportunities and create a larger skate facility while encouraging broader community use across generations.
