Long-Awaited Esplanade Park and Playground Opens on Mount Pleasant Foreshore

A new public park has officially opened on the Mount Pleasant foreshore after the transformation of a former senior citizen centre and construction vehicle carpark into a 2,000-square-metre community green space. Located within the Canning Bridge Activity Centre, Esplanade Park connects Kishorn Road with The Esplanade and provides improved public access to the Swan River foreshore.

The park includes a themed playground inspired by the egret bird, a new concrete shared pathway, landscaped garden beds, trees, plants and turf, creating a family-friendly recreational space for residents and visitors.

The project was delivered by the City of Melville with funding support from Lotterywest and the Western Australian Government after years of community advocacy for additional open space in the rapidly developing precinct. City representatives said the park improves access to nature, supports active recreation and provides a new gathering place for the growing local community.
