Thimmakka Tree Park in India remains a popular destination due to its extensive greenery, shaded walking paths and diverse plant collections, but visitors continue to raise concerns about safety, maintenance and missing amenities. The 12-acre park reopened in late 2025 after being closed for nearly 18 months following the death of a four-year-old child in 2024 when an animal statue she was sitting on reportedly collapsed and caused fatal head injuries.
Despite restoration and cleaning works undertaken during the closure, visitors report damaged and rusting playground equipment, deteriorated adventure play structures and a lack of basic facilities such as drinking water and food services. Families have also called for improvements to parking, internal roads, signage, CCTV surveillance and access roads leading to the park.
Tourists visiting the park praised its natural environment, shade and recreational value but expressed concern that maintenance has not kept pace with visitor expectations. Several visitors said damaged swings, slides and play equipment should be repaired to improve safety and usability for children.
Forest Department officials acknowledged that some infrastructure deteriorated while the park remained closed and stated that repairs to adventure equipment and drinking water facilities are planned. Authorities also indicated that broader development works for the park are expected during the current financial year.
While the park offers valuable outdoor recreation, biodiversity and educational opportunities, concerns remain that safety, infrastructure and visitor amenities require further attention to meet community expectations.
