central park becomes las mujeres park as guadalupe invests $4.9 million in youth recreation

The city of Guadalupe, California, is redeveloping its Central Park into Las Mujeres Park with a $4.9 million investment funded by a state parks grant to expand youth recreation and community facilities.

The renovation includes the city’s first skate park alongside a half basketball court, a dog park and outdoor adult exercise equipment, picnic tables with barbecue pits, and a new restroom facility. Construction crews are completing the work with an anticipated park opening in July. The renaming of the space to Las Mujeres Park honours local women who have contributed to the community.

City officials hope the expanded amenities will provide youth with more active recreation options and increase community pride and involvement.
