A fire at the children’s playground in Gan Sacher Park in Jerusalem caused heavy damage to the equipment early on 12 March 2026. Emergency services brought the blaze under control and no injuries were reported.
Police said surveillance operators identified a suspect after the fire was reported, and officers later arrested a 23-year-old man from Bat Ayin nearby. A lighter was reportedly found on him and his hands appeared to be covered in soot. Fire investigators and Jerusalem Municipality representatives attended the scene to assess the cause and extent of the damage.
