A 13-year-old boy died after becoming trapped in a playground slide during an incident at a park in Miami, Florida. Olvin Cabrera Valladares was supposed to be attending school on September 25 but instead went to a nearby park to play. Later that day, a man visiting the playground with his children found Olvin trapped inside the slide.
According to the article, Olvin’s mother, Estefanía Valladares, was told that the man attempted to free her son and found he was caught on a screw. Olvin’s sister, Stephany, said his shirt had become caught on a protruding screw while he was travelling down the slide. He was reportedly unable to free the clothing and eventually lost consciousness. Witnesses reportedly saw him suspended inside the slide by the collar of his T-shirt.
The man who found Olvin began first aid, which paramedics continued before transporting him to hospital. Olvin was placed on life support and was declared brain dead approximately one week later.
Authorities closed the park on the day Olvin was found. It reopened the following day, with the article reporting it was unclear whether the slide had been inspected or repaired. A city spokesperson said the matter remained under active investigation and officials were working to establish the facts.
