Construction of the new John Davis OAM Stadium at Orange’s Regional Sporting Precinct has reached a major milestone with the installation of the venue’s precast concrete lift shaft, marking one of the first significant vertical elements of the project.
The $75 million redevelopment is jointly funded by the New South Wales Government ($59.5 million), the Australian Government ($15 million) and Orange City Council. The completed venue will include a 1,350-seat grandstand, corporate facilities, player amenities and space for thousands more spectators on surrounding grass embankments.
Orange Mayor Tony Mileto described the project as a once-in-a-generation investment for regional sport and community events. While construction remains on schedule, the redevelopment continues to attract debate, with some residents and NSW MP Phil Donato questioning long-term operating costs and advocating for higher-capacity broadcast lighting to avoid more expensive upgrades in the future.
