A woman was injured after a roughly 30-foot tree suddenly fell during a community block party at at Park in Minnesota, USA, on the evening of 29 May. The tree trapped the woman beneath its branches before emergency crews rescued her and transported her to Regions Hospital, where she was reported to be in a stable condition.

Witnesses described hearing people shout warnings as the tree came down and attendees moved to safety. The incident occurred during a popular summer event that attracted large crowds to the park. The area was temporarily cleared while crews removed the fallen tree.

The park is managed by the city’s Parks and Recreation forestry unit, which oversees tree planting, maintenance and removals across public parks. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident including the condition of the mature linden tree.
