Toddler Killed After Football Goalpost Collapses at School

A three-year-old girl died after a set of football goalposts collapsed on her at a primary school in Brazil. The incident occurred while she was playing beneath the metal frame as other children hung on to the equipment when the goal structure reportedly toppled and hit Sofia on the head, causing her to go into immediate cardiac arrest. Emergency services attended, but she could not be saved.

The child was identified as a pupil at the school, and tributes have been shared by the school community and family. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether the goalposts were properly secured and maintained in accordance with safety standards.

Police and safety officials are examining the equipment and site conditions, with attention on the risks associated with portable or unsecured goalposts. Similar incidents have previously been linked to inadequate anchoring, particularly in environments used by young children.
