Damage has been reported to grassed areas surrounding a newly opened skate park in England after motorcyclists rode across turf in Wyndham Park. South Kesteven District Council said the ground had been “torn and rutted”, describing the vandalism as unacceptable and undermining efforts to improve recreational facilities for young people.
The skate park itself remains open, with the damage limited to surrounding grass areas. The facility opened earlier in the month following a campaign led by a local 12-year-old boy working with a councillor to establish the park.
The council recently announced plans to invest £250,000 upgrading playground equipment in the town, including swings, springs, seesaws and climbing structures. Officials said vandalism such as this is discouraging but reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining parks and recreational spaces.
