$3 Million Playground Deteriorates Just 18 Months After Opening in ACT

A $3 million playground in the ACT has deteriorated significantly just 18 months after opening, with visible damage and wear affecting multiple elements of the site. Issues reported include broken or degraded play equipment, damaged surfaces, and general decline in condition, raising concerns about durability and maintenance.

The playground was originally designed as a major recreational space, attracting families and community use. However, early deterioration has impacted usability and raised questions about construction quality, materials, and ongoing upkeep.

Authorities have acknowledged the issues, with repairs and maintenance works being considered or underway. The condition of the site has prompted concerns from the community regarding safety, asset lifespan, and the management of high-value public infrastructure.
