Course Objectives

  1. Understand the principles and importance of playground surface impact testing.
  2. Learn to use the Wireless Value Blue Impact tester and other relevant testing equipment.
  3. Gain proficiency in interpreting test results and generating comprehensive reports.
  4. Comprehend and apply the AS 4422(Int):2022 & AS 4685.0:2017 standards and testing methodologies.
  5. Develop practical skills for conducting on-site and post-training impact
    tests.

Structure & Assessment

  • Theory – Online Quizzes: Complete online quizzes on training day, consisting of multiple-choice,
    short, and long answers for the training modules. Open
    book format, allowing consultation of references.
  • Practical 1 (Level 2): Complete practical on training day, consisting of demonstrating operation of
    HIC device, and interpretation of results.
  • Practical 2 (Level 3 only): Due 2 weeks post-training, consisting of HIC
    machine independent set up, testing (recorded demonstration) of 3 playground
    areas and submitted inspection report.

Prerequisites and Pre-study

There are no pre-requisites or pre-study required for this Certified Playground Safety Training course. Recertification discount is available for those who refresh their training (3 yrs).

Registration Requirements

  • Have sufficient literacy and numeracy skills: can follow training and assessment instructions and legal requirements (e.g., WHS).
  • Have reasonable physical agility: able to climb on, and thoroughly inspect play equipment, anchorage points and fit attachments
  • Have sufficient vision: able to observe signs, wear and tear and a typical fitting situation
  • Have sufficient aptitude to be able to utilise hand tools and make adjustments
  • Be able to use basic computer programs such as MS word, excel and PDF

  2. Proficiency in using impact testing equipment.

We visit most Australian States and Territories 1-3 times a year and run sessions available to anyone to register and attend.

In-house or hosted training is available upon request for group bookings more than 5+ or if discussed otherwise – please quote to see if you meet requirements or customised training.

We run live stream sessions to assist regional groups who cannot meet the hosting criteria and like interactive lectures.

Post live stream events the content is uploaded available as a self-paced option to those who have work or personal commitments and are unavailable for 2-days intensive training.

Please note should you enrol into a certain delivery mode you can interchange should requirements change, price-lock will apply and credits are available if notified within a reasonable timeframe.

We do not deliver our courses on behalf of an RTO. We have qualified Trainer and Assessors with units of competency for assessment tools and mapping. 

Park Facilities Unit of Competency delivered by an RTO can be beneficial should that unit meet your requirements – the AS 4685.0:2017 clause 5.1 does not define which qualification and remains open broadly.

We accept purchase orders for payment from Council, Education Department (or equivalent) organisations. Non-council (or equivalent) requires the full account to be closed 2 weeks prior to training commencement, our preferred payment is net 14 from invoice issue date.
If you have payment terms outside of this, please notify us and we will work our best to accommodate your needs and payment requirements. Partial payments are permitted.
